It started from the corporation circle . The bus was a non ac but in a place like Bengalore, an A.c. is not required. The first visit was to the ISKON temple. I was amazed to see such a huge temple. However it did not give any spiritual feeling to me. It seemed more like a temple for rich. It seemed like a gallery of modern arts when i looked at the roof which had large picture of
Radha Krishna. The idols of god were so flashy and covered with precious metals that it looked as an item for appreciating the make and decoration rather than bowing head to ask for blessings. The attendents of the rich gods were speaking english. They were all young men of age group 21-30. It made me wonder that if these human resources could have utilized somewhere more productive! After the darshan, I was surprised to find a Bakery shop in the temple. The entire lanes to the way out had numerous shops of eateries which included biscuits, samosas, namkeens, all sorts of breakfast items, other shops included spiritual books, idols, pictures etc..
The management of footwear was worth noting. There were plastic cement sacks which were used to put the footwear and they were then hanged on the alphanumerically numbered hooks on the big frames. Similarly cameras were also kept in black cloth bags after entering the make and name of the owner in the register. Unlike the footwear which were kept for 2 rupees, cameras were kept for free. I could not figure out the reason why there was charge on footwears and not on cameras.
Overall it seems like a temple for the rich, by the rich and probably of the rich!
